Indian Rare Earths Ltd.(IREL) a Mini-Ratna category-1 Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of the Department of Atomic Energy is the industry leader in the area of Beach Sand Minerals like Ilmenite, Rutile (Titanium Ores), Zircon, Monazite, Sillimanite etc. and producer of Rare Earths (Lanthanides) Chemicals, Thorium Nitrate etc. The company requires the following personnel on FIXED TERM BASIS for a period of One Year for its OSCOM Unit located at Matikhalo, Chatrapur in Odisha.

Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) is a government-owned corporation in India based in Mumbai. It was incorporated as a private limited company and jointly owned by the Government of India and Government of Travancore Cochin. Government of India took control of IREL in 1963 under the administrative control of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). It was incorporated with the primary intention of taking up commercial scale processing of monazite sand at its first unit namely Rare Earths Division(RED), Aluva, Kerala for the recovery of thorium.
IREL commissioned its largest division called Orissa Sand Complex(OSCOM)[4] at Chhatrapur, Orissa. Today IREL operates these four units with corporate office in Mumbai and produces/sells six heavy minerals namely ilmenite, rutile, zircon, monazite, sillimanite, and garnet as well as various value added products.Corporate Research Centre is located at Kollam, Kerala[8] and carries out research in the field of value added products from beach sand minerals, undertakes consultancy projects on mineral separation and flow sheet development, carrying out mineral analysis and caters to the needs of internal and external customers.

On August 18, 1950, Indian Rare Earths Limited(IREL) was incorporated as a private limited company -jointly owned by the Government of India and Government of Travancore, Cochin with the primary intention of taking up commercial scale processing of monazite sand at its first unit namely Rare Earths Division(RED), Aluva, Kerala for the recovery of thorium.

Educational Qualification:The candidate must possess Bachelor of Science Degree with 50% marks with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry from a University/College duly recognized/approved.

Desirable: Knowledge of Computer application is desirable for operation of equipments

Age Limit:  Interested candidates who are appearing for this post should have the age 25 years.

Relaxation of Age:

  • SC/ST Candidates :5 years
  • OBC Candidates :3 years
  • PH :10 years

Pay Scale/Salary(in Rs.):Selected candidates would be eligible to get the pay scale of around Rs.20000/-.

Some Instructions:

  • The tenure of the Temporary Junior Chemist/Junior Geologist on fixed term basis will be initially for a period of One year (Twelve months only). Further it is extendable by one more year subject to satisfactory performance and requirement of the management.
  • The engagement of the Junior Chemist/Junior Geologist will be on temporary basis and their services may be terminated at any time without assigning any reasons thereof.
  • No leave other than weekly off and casual leave of 15 days during the period of calendar year proportionately shall be admissible.
  • The temporary Junior Chemist/Junior Geologist shall work in shifts(A,B & C) and General shift as per  the need from time to time.
  • The candidate shall be given suitable training on the subject/work and will be put on the job.
  • The daily attendance of the Temporary Junior Chemist/Junior Geologist shall be taken on a separate attendance register with signature.
  • The Temporary Junior Chemist/Junior Geologist will be allowed to avail Company’s transport facilities free  of cost.
  • Only Indian Nationals need apply. Mere submission of application will not entail right for claiming Appointment.
  • Age  is to be counted as on 1st August 2013.
  • The candidates are advised to ensure while applying that they fulfill the eligibility criteria and other requirements and that the particulars furnished by them are correct in all respect. In case, it is detected at any stage of recruitment process that a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria and/or does not comply with other requirements of this advertisement and/or he/she has furnished any incorrect or false information or has suppressed any material fact, his/her candidature is liable to be summarily rejected. If any of the above shortcomings is detected even after appointment, his/her services will be terminated without any notice.
  • In order to regulate the number of candidates to be called for the test and/or interview, if so required, the Management reserves the right to raise the minimum eligibility standard/criteria OR to relax the minimum eligibility standards/criteria including age limit depending upon the response to the advertised posts.
  • Merely meeting the above qualifications and experience shall not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. Only short-listed candidates will be notified/called for Test/or Interview.
  • Candidates called for interview will be reimbursed to and fro 2nd Class Sleeper train fare from the nearest Railway Station by the shortest route from the place of interview subject to submission of proof of travel.
  • Depending upon the requirement, the Company reserves the right to cancel/curtail/increase the number of posts without any further notice and without assigning any reason thereof.
  •  Bringing influence at any stage of the selection process will disqualify the candidate.
