Educational Qualification:
(a) Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physicsand English, with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
OR
(b) Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology /InformationTechnology) from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute with minimum 50% marksin overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma.
Note : – Exact aggregate percentage of marks up to first place of decimal for all subjects asmentioned in the Marks Sheet of Intermediate or 10+2/equivalent (For example, 49.9% should NOT be rounded off to 50%).
Pay Scale: Selected candidates will draw a starting basic pay of Rs.8550/-p.m.
Age:Candidates maximum age limit for Airman post 21 years.
Age Relaxation: Upto a maximum of 5 years in respect of SC/ST candidates; Upto a maximum of 3 years in respect of OBC candidates; Upto a maximum of 10 years if the candidate is a physically handicapped person.
TENURE AND TRAINING: Enrolment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable upto the age of 57 years. Initially candidates will be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training(JBPT) at Basic Training Institute, Belgaum (Karnataka). On successful completion ofJBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for Trade Training of specified duration. Training is however liable to be terminated at any time if the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit. After successful completion of training,
the airmen will be deployed on ground based jobs as per their allotted trades.
Application Fee: Rs. 400/- (No fee for SC/ ST/ PH candidates).
Selection Process : Written Test/ Physical Fitness Test/ Interview/ Medical Examination.
Physical Fitness Test : All candidates who pass the written test are to undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day. PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes. Candidates completing the PFT in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds will be awarded additional marks on a sliding scale. Candidates are advised to bring their sports shoes and shorts.
