Educational Qualification: A candidate must possess B.Sc. Degree in Horticulture or M.Sc. (Agriculture) with specialization in Horticulture of a recognized university in the State or any other university/ institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission and as per G.O.Ms.No.355, Food & Agri. (Agri.II) Dept., dt.7-3-1992 first preference shall be given to the candidates who possessed B.Sc. (Horticulture) and in case of non-availability of B.Sc. (Horticulture) candidates, preference will be given to those who possessed M.Sc. (Agri.) Horticulture.

Scale of Pay: Rs.16150/-

Selection Process: The Selection Committee will select the candidates as per merit, based on the aggregate marks computed for 100 marks, i.e., up to a maximum of 75 for the OGPA/ Traditional % of marks secured by them in their B.Sc. (Horti.) or M.Sc. (Ag.) Horticulture or B.Sc. (Ag.) [in case of non-availability of B.Sc.(Horti.) candidates among S.C. & S.T. only], plus marks for seniority from the date of passing of the said qualification @ One Mark per year from the year of passing (for completed year), subject to maximum of 10 Marks, plus subject to maximum of 15 marks i.e., @ 4 Marks per year for satisfactory service rendered as Horticultural Officer/ Horticultural Consultant on outsourcing / contract basis in the Horticulture Department.

How To Apply: The candidates are advised to send their bio-data in the prescribed format appended along with supporting certified copies of two sets along with two recent passport size photos for Age/ Qualification along with Memo of Marks/ Community/ Nativity/ Experience etc. Completed application reach to “The O/o Commissioner of Horticulture, Hyderabad (A.P.)”. The last date for receipt of application is 19/10/2013 by 5:00 PM.

About theDepartment of Horticulture:

National Horticulture Mission has been launched as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme to promote holistic growth of the horticulture sector through an area based regionally differentiated strategies. The scheme will be fully funded by the Government and different components proposed for implementation financially supported on the scales laid down.

Strategies

  • To achieve the objectives of the National Horticulture Mission, the mission would adopt the following strategies.
  • Ensure an end–to-end holistic approach covering production, post harvest management, processing and marketing to assure appropriate returns to growers /producers.
  • Promote R&D technologies for production, post-harvest management and processing.
  • Enhance acreage, coverage, and productivity through; a)Diversification, from traditional crops to plantations, orchards, vineyards, flower and vegetable gardens ; b)Extension of appropriate technology to the farmers for high-tech horticulture cultivation and precision farming.
  • Assist setting up post harvest facilities such as pack house, ripening chamber, cold storages, Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storages etc, processing units for value addition and marketing infrastructure.
  • Adopt a coordinated approach and promotion of partnership, convergence and synergy among R&D, processing and marketing agencies in public as well as private sectors, at the National, Regional, State and Sub-State levels.
  • Where appropriate and feasible, promote National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) model of cooperatives to ensure support and adequate returns to farmers,
  • Promote capacity-building and Human Resource Development at all levels.
