CIBA Recruitment 2013-For Research Associate Post:
The Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA) is the nodal institute to cater to the needs of the brackishwater aquacture sector of the country and has been a pioneer in nutrition and feed technology for brackishwater aquaculture. CIBA has developed indigenous shrimp feed technology for the tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) and successfully commercialized the technology to private entrepreneurs for commercial production of feed for tiger shrimp farming. CIBA is interested to develop innovative feed technology for the Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) and sought Expression of Interest from potential partners for developing and improving the Pacific white shrimp feed through Public Private partnership mode. The Waterbase Limited, a corporate and major player in the field of shrimp feed industry has expressed its interest for a collaborative research project on improvement of L.vannamei feed. The major objective of the research work is to develop a cost effective eco friendly feed for white shrimp. The MoU was signed between CIBA and The Waterbase Limited on 7th June 2012 for a period of two years from 7th June 2012 to 6th June 2014. It is expected that the outcome of this project would pave way for the large scale commercial production of the shrimp feed at affordable cost by the shrimp farmers.
Brackishwater aquaculture has been identified as one of the high potential areas for increasing finfish and shell fish production and for deriving maximum economic and social benefits. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India established the Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA) on 1-4-1987.
The Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture serves as the nodal agency for the development of brackishwater aquaculture in the country. The Headquarters of the Institute is located at Chennai with an Experimental Field Station at Muttukadu, about 30 km south of Chennai. The Institute has one Research Centre at Kakdwip in West Bengal.
