Name of the Post:Research Assistant/Research Associate

Department:Industrial Design Centre
Name of the Project : Scaling the rural enterprise – Bridging the urban – rural divide
Eligibility : B Tech in computer science, MCA or equivalent with 4 years of experience in a HCI group.

Experience :Experience in user studies, contextual inquiry, prototyping, usability evaluations must. Must be familiar with software development for web, desktop and mobile platforms. Versatile, self-motivated and professional.
Salary : Consolidated salary Rs.19000/- p.m. + HRA
Job Profile : User studies, contextual inquiry, prototyping for the web, desktop or mobile, usability evaluations.

Department:Mechanical Engineering
Name of the Project :National Centre for Aerospace Innovation and Research (NCAIR)
Eligibility : Qualification: PhD, with project experience related to manufacturing process modeling and simulation, experimentation using design methodologies and, manufacturing, design and simulation related to polymer composite materials in the department of Mechanical/ Aerospace/ Industrial/ Production/Metallurgical Engineering. Experience: 3-5 years. Deserving candidates may be considered for higher salary. 30% HRA will be paid or accommodation will be provided. Persons with experience between 1-3 years may be considered for the Junior position of Research Scientist also.
Salary : Consolidated salary Rs.58000 to 78000/- p.m. + HRA
Job Profile : Undertake technical projects related to machining of aerospace materials and composites, and define the activities, and oversee the execution. Guide a team of at least 5 masters students along with 1to2 PhD candidates on the said technical projects.

Department:Mechanical Engineering
Name of the Project :Ignition delay studies of fuels using a shock tube
Eligibility : A First Class B.E/M.Tech. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. A good knowledge of Fluid Mechanics, Gas Dynamics/Hypersonic Flows is required apart from an aptitude to design and conduct experiments. Exposure to aerodynamic/hypersonic test facilities is preferred.
Salary : Consolidated salary Rs.16000/- p.m.
Job Profile : The job involves conducting experiments in a shock tube, design of an apparatus to study combustion characteristics of fuels, measurement of pressure and optical data, operating high-speed data acquisition systems & data analysis.

Department:Physics
Name of the Project : Ultrafast optical interactions in metal and semiconductor nanostructures
Eligibility : PhD in Physics with specialization in optics and spectroscopy. The applicant must have good knowledge of optics and spectroscopy as well as should be conversant with operation of lasers and related equipment. Please note no HRA is will be provided.
Salary : Consolidated salary Rs.22000/- p.m.
Job Profile : To setup and perform experiments related to research in ultrafast spectroscopy, plasmonics and nano-optics.

About the IIT Bombay:

IIT Bombay, the second in the chain of IITs, was set up in 1958. It was the first IIT to be set up with foreign assistance. The funds came from UNESCO in roubles from the Soviet Union. In 1961, the Parliament decreed IITs as ‘Institutes of National Importance’.
