Qualification/Educational Criteria:Ph.D. Degree holders in Literature, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology,Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Philosophy, etc. are eligible to apply.
Pay Scale :The Postdoctoral Fellowship includes award of Rs. 18,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs. 30,000/- per annum.
Age Limit(in yrs): Interested candidates who are appearing for this post should have not have exceeded 40 years of age as on 30th September 2013.
Note:The upper age limit is relaxable for the following specified categories to the extent indicated below.
i) By 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST communities.
ii) By 3 years for candidates belonging to OBC communities.
iii) By 5 years to candidates who have originally been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989.

About the Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) :
The Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) is an autonomous Institute of higher research functioning under the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. This is an Institute constituted specifically for carrying out higher research Classical Tamil at international levels not to be found elsewhere globally. This unique Institute is functioning in Chennai from May 19, 2008. Earlier, from March, 2006 to May 18, 2008, the Institute was functioning in the campus of the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore and it was called Centre for Excellence of Classical Tamil.
The CICT is engaged in several research activities aimed at establishing the
ancientness and uniqueness of Tamil and of Classical Tamil in particular and in
propagating its findings globally.
The Centre of Excellence for Classical Tamil (CECT), established by the Government of India with a view to promoting the cause of Classical Tamil, has been functioning at the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, a branch of the Department of Higher Education, Language Bureau, Ministry of Human Resource Development. It is engaged in the task of developing Tamil through various programmes of its own. CECT was moved to chennai by the Mid of May 2008 and rechristianed as Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT). The chairman of the new institute is Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaignar M.Karunanidhi. The Governing body for Classical Tamil institute (TLPB) was also changed as Aimperumkuzhu (5 Members) and Enperayam (8 Members) under two vice-chairman Prof.V.I.Subramoniam and Prof.V.C.KulandaiSwamy, the chairman for this governing body is Dr.Kalaignar.
